American Legion Auxiliary - Decades of Making a Difference

The American Legion Auxiliary is the world's largest women's patriotic organization.

The American Legion Auxiliary has been dedicated to serving veterans, military and their families for nearly 100 years. Auxiliary members exemplify Service Not Self through countless volunteer hours, programs, conferences and an increased presence in Washington, D.C. Although things have changed since The American Legion Auxiliary's establishment in 1919, the one thing to remain the same is members' unwavering commitment to honor those who serve. Watch the video to learn more about our history and why now is an exciting time to be part of the world's largest women's patriotic service organization.

ALA Girls State

ALA Girls State is a unique and exciting government-in-action learning program in which American Legion Auxiliary members guide young women to become knowledgeable stewards of freedom, democracy and patriotic citizens.

Through classroom activities, literacy programs, sholarship promotion and support of education beyond high school, ALA members build brand loyalty and awareness of the ALA's mission through their education-related community service projects.

Using the image and story of the Flanders Field Poppy to educate people about the sacrifices of our military service members helps us raise awareness of The Legion Family and link us to our mission in the eyes of the public.

Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation

Our work gives us the opportunity to enhance the lives of veterans, military and their families by allowing our members opportunities to serve in volunteer leadership roles within their local Veterans Affairs hospitals, shelters nursing homes and other locations.
